Teal Pumpkins DIY

So you probably haven't noticed yet, but we love Halloween at our house. We decorate. We participate. We have fun. 

But this is the first year we will be having a Teal Pumpkin at our house!  And the inspiration behind our having on is just too sweet. 

A couple weeks ago now, I was scrolling through Facebook as I do, and saw a post from another mom of one of Ella's preschooo friends. Her daughter has quite a few allergies and they had just found out there were a few more. It made me so sad and Ella saw her friends photo and asked me to read the post to her.  She was really sad for her friend. Then I told her about the teal pumpkin project after. 

 Now, I realize this is not a Teal Pumpkin from Michaels, but there's heart behind it. We went to the dollar store, grabbed a pumpkin and a face.   I also let her know that she would need to choose a few non candy items to give out for those who have allergies and such and can't do the Halloween candy.  Then we came home and she painted the little guy. It was a project that my five year old could do by herself with her friend in mind. 

Overall for a total of $10, including the special treats, we worked on a project that included thinking of others and learned that sometimes people are different and that's ok!  And I also love that it was really self driven!  She wanted to do something for her friend (who won't even see our Pumpkin unless online) but I just think it's awesome!
