Sneak Preview - The Nutcracker with Central Indiana Dance Enseble

Last year we attended the Nutcracker by the Central Indiana Dance Ensemble (CIDE) and thorougly enjoyed it so when I got an invite to a Mommy Blogger sneak preview this year, I had to jump on the opportunity!
The level of professionalism with this group is amazing! Greeted at the door by Vicki and a couple teachers (who's names I missed - I"m so sorry!), we were welcomed into a bit of a wonderland... An entry filled with nutcrackers and a glistening feel. Dancers made their way to three rooms where they previewed three dances from their version of The Nutcracker.
My first stop was the gorgeous Sugar Plum Fairy - Audrey Burdick - who ran her routine 2x pretty much back to back and coming from the skating world, I know how hard double run throughs can be. She graced her way across the floor and never lost her smile... She has been dancing for 13 years, 6 with CIDE and was a true pleasure to watch.
Next stop was the wooden toy dolls from the party scene. These two were great as well. They both give their entire days to ballet and training. Again, becuase I'm the worst, I didnt' catch their naames but I was amazed that the boy had only been dancing for 10 months! He just wanted to try it about 10 months ago and fell in love! I was amazed at his ability after only having done dance that long.
Lastly I popped into the kids room where the children from the party were running their routine. I'm not going to lie... The costumes always get me. They take me back in time a bit, and take me back to when I would go to see the Nutcracker with my grandmother who was a dancer. The girls ringlets and the boys little vests... Just love the party scenes!
If you are looking for a Nutcracker to attend, you must check this one out! The dancers audition in late August and have been rehearsing since Labor Day weekend. This performance features 121 dancers from 47 central Indiana Schools. The dancers, instructors, and families have put so much time into this and it shows! CIDE is a pre-professional dance acadmey in their 18th season. Performances are December 15th-17th at the Zionsville Performing Arts Center.
They also host a Sugar Plum Fairy Dessert Party prior to the afternoon performances which includes treats from the Land of Sweets, pictures with Clara and the Sugar Plum Fairy, a craft, and an interactive story time.
