DIY Felt Christmas Tree

Since my little told me our Elf wasn’t doing too good lately, I figured it was time to up my game!

And I’d been wanting to make one of these for my 1 year old for a while so it worked out! Big Christmas and I got to work.

Here’s what you’ll need for this project:

1yd Green Felt

*I bet you could get away with ½ yd.

Tacky Glue

Different color felt pieces

Scissors

A little bit of time – this took us about 2 hours.

First, we started with the ornaments. We cut out circles. You can use any bowls you might have and trace and cut. Easy. Peasy. I did this on three or four different colors of felt making three of each color.

Then I took the scraps and added stripes, dots, santas, trees, etc. You can make them however you like. We also cut out a few extra circles and left them blank for the girls to make their own ornaments.

Next up lights… Again, easy. I cut out teardrop shapes first. Then I held them up to a white backing and cut around the white leaving a small white bit at the top to look like a light. Then I glued them together.

Once you’ve finished the ornaments & lights (and gifts) you’ve finished the most time consuming part! Next up is the tree. Fold your yard of green felt in half and then cut down the middle. I only used half of my yard because I knew how big I wanted my tree to be. Once you’ve got the right size, fold that in half and cut into a tree shape.

Now you are done! Big Christmas and I waited until the girls were asleep and we used tiny nails to hang it to the wall, found a gold bag to put all the ornaments and gifts in, and left a note!

So easy and they’ve played with it all day! Woo Hoo! Big Christmas Win!
